At 13, Sindhuja Rajamaran has many feathers to her cap — India’s youngest 2D animator, the country’s youngest digital caricaturist certified by Corel Corporation, India, fastest 2D animator in the country certified by Nasscom Animation and Gaming Conclave, 2010 and one of the youngest CEOs in the country with Seppan - To Entertain.
Now in her 9th standard, Sindhuja’s proudest moment happens to be her Guinness Record attempt of making a 2D animation short film, to create an awareness on global warming.
She worked on it for ten continuous hours (10 am - 8 pm on October 10, 2010 as part of the ‘Lights Out Campaign’). For someone with so many achievements, her interest in animation started quite late. “It was not until two years ago that I took up animation. My father (MR Rajamaran, Tamil Nadu’s first digital caricaturist) has been my inspiration and the force behind all my achievements. I learnt all about animation from him. In my sixth standard, I submitted my first project in 2D (1.25 minutes long). Later, in eighth standard, I submitted my second short film on Tuberculosis in 2D (2.45 minutes long). Our school authorities wanted me to do a project for Exnora’s ‘Lights Out Campaign’, 2010. We decided on this 10 hour feat, for which I got one month to prepare. I used to practice for eight hours a day and on Sundays it used to take more time,” she says.
