The Characters:
The perfect character is he who strikes a chord with the audience. When CG Today first saw the characters, it did not make our heads turn. We were awe struck once we went through the entire “making process." The characters resemble the simple lives of the people around us. The characters with their wonderful vibe, makes them lovable.
2nz Animation has created the fictional Toonpur and its characters.Toonasurs and the Devtoons have origins from mythology while characters like “Lappy” are inspired from contemporary events. The idea evolved from sketches to the final 3D renders.
Designing great characters not only requires a flair for drawing, but also requires the ability of the artist to be a psychologist, one who is able to peer into the personality of the characterisation, induce motivations, aberrations and traits specific to the design and function of the character relevant for the story. It also requires the character to exude personality hues that may surprise the audience, while retaining the character’s integrity. Evergreen brands are characters that evolve and grow being an imperative pre-requisite (Mickey Mouse is very different now from the time he was conceived in ”Steamboat Willie”). It requires a holistic approach rather than just a superficial drawing or a character sketch. - Kireet Khurana
