Microsoft brings controller-free entertainment to Australia, with Kinect for Xbox 360 launching at retailers in time for Christmas.

Predicted to be one of the most significant consumer electronic product launches in history, Xbox Kinect’s world first technology features a revolutionary sensor which allows full body play for the first time.

Instead of using a traditional controller and pressing buttons, the player’s full body is captured by the Kinect sensor, enabling their movements and gestures to control the action.

Outbreak Studios develops a game based on unique archaeological finds in Sweden.

Outbreak Studios announces today the upcoming game Fylgja, which is based on archaeological findings from the Tulebo area in Gothenburg, Sweden. Fylgja is planned for release in 2011 on Windows and Mac. It will be available for free. Experts, coordinated by the Museum of Mölndal, are involved in the development and the project runs with support from the Torsten Söderbergs foundation. The game is co-developed by Liminal Studio.

Players solve quests in both the Bronze Age (around 400 B.C.) and the Iron Age (700 A.D.). Buildings, clothing, characters and their environment are all based on correct archaeological data, but carefully transformed to a more mystic and magic tone. The story revolves around the girl Tyra who mysteriously falls asleep and time travels to the Bronze Age. There she meets her ancestors and they rely on her to solve conflicts and other challenges to secure the survival of her blood line.

Films Division to Spend 110 Crores on its Museum of Cinema Online Purchase of Division’s Documentaries by Next Year

A Museum of Cinema will be Films’ Division’s gift for cinema lovers in the country. The work for the Museum is going on in full swing and it is likely to be inaugurated in the Centenary year of the Indian Cinema in the year 2013. Giving this information to the media at the Media Centre here today, the Director General of Films Division (FD), Shri Kuldeep Sinha said that the estimated cost of the Project is Rs.110 crores. The museum will cover all the aspects of cinema right from the films, costumes, scripts, set designs, monographs and even film magazines.

Talking about the other new initiatives of the Films Division, Shri Sinha said that the webcast of the films made during the last 60 years will soon be done by the Division. On-line purchases of the films and documentaries can be done by next year as the facility for the same will be available. The Films Division has produced more than 8000 films during the last 60 years, and about 5000 films will be available for on-line purchase and download.
