Design Studio Creates Content for Nine Songs Projected onto Two Giant LED Video Screens and Third 3D Model Projector

Loyalkaspar SakiraAdd Shakira to the growing list of top-tier musical acts that have tapped the talents of design/creative engagement studio Loyalkaspar to create elaborate yet conceptual video sequences to accompany their performances. Working with the tour’s Creative Directors Felix Barrett and Es Devlin, the award-winning studio created nine distinct sequences for the pop star’s current Sale El Sol World Tour.

While Loyalkaspar had previously designed tour visuals for such artists as U2, Jay-Z and The Who’s performance at the 2010 Super Bowl, none were as complex as what they created for Skakira.

“Mistika was the perfect tool for this project. It was essentially the main hub for the commercial, and we were able to plug our CG pipeline directly into it. Also, as this was a commercial for cinema, the ability to export a DCP from the Mistika to our network and be viewing the film back in our cinema, in stereo 3D, within fifteen minutes, was fantastic.”
Framestore

SGO’s Mistika was used by Framestore for all the stereoscopic alignments, depth grading and visual effects compositing for the LG “Rare Butterflies” cinema commercial for LG’s  integrated 3D cinema and digital campaign. Directed by Richard Ayoade for Framestore’s digital team, and lead by Executive Producer, Simon Whalley, Framestore conceived, filmed and post produced the high profile campaign for agency Mindshare, to demystify stereoscopic 3D, using humour and interactive elements on the online version.

The BAFTA and VES-nominated LOOK was brought on board last summer. “Principal photography had already wrapped and VFX were underway, but there were still some outstanding design elements that needed to be addressed,” explains Visual Effects Supervisor Dan Schrecker. “I had met Director Neil Burger and Producer Scott Kroopf a number of years earlier, during a previous incarnation of the film, so I had some familiarity with the project.”
