The International 3D Society announced today that Panasonic Corporation (NYSE:PC) will assume Co-chair of its Worldwide Education committee and become its official technology partner. In this capacity, Panasonic will provide 3D technology at instructional events produced by the International 3D Society in the USA, Europe, and Asia

The purpose of the program is to establish a curriculum of technical and creative coursework for video industry professionals in key production markets around the globe, as 3D technology is rapidly advancing. The International 3D Society’s 3D University series has attracted over 700 professional participants in Los Angeles in its first nine weeks of the program. The next 3D University class is Blu-ray Day on Saturday, November 6. The following month, on December 4, the 3D University will meet in Los Angeles for a program presented in association with the Producers Guild of America.

“Our primary mission is to provide education to 3D professionals. We thank Panasonic for their partnership which allows us to fulfill that commitment globally,” remarked Jim Chabin, President of the International 3D Society. Panasonic will provide technical support, demonstrations, and expertise in developing learning programs worldwide.

Professionals seeking to develop their 3D expertise will benefit not only from the presentations, but also from the opportunities to network with their peers and share the latest developments in the 3D ecosystem.

“As an innovator and leader in bringing 3D TV technologies to consumers and to the video production industry, Panasonic understands the value of education in cultivating a new generation of 3D professionals around the world,” said Yoshiyuki Miyabe, Executive Officer of Panasonic Corporation. “With this goal in mind, we welcome this opportunity to work with the International 3D Society as they provide educational seminars and demonstrations that will enable 3D professionals globally to gain new skills.”

Panasonic Corporation recently received the organization’s first Charles Wheatstone Award honoring its advocacy, technology and consumer engagement in the development of the stereoscopic 3D products.
