Game: Mass Effect 2
Release Date: 26th January 2010
Platform: Xbox360

I’m going to be honest; I didn’t see the massive appeal of Mass Effect 1. The hype behind it was massive, I could appreciate the various aspects of the game, and I could see all the potential for it to be an absolutely stellar title, but it didn’t take grasp of me. I never felt like I really delved that deep into the rich world that Bioware had laid out before me. It felt like it was over too soon. That said, I succumbed to purchasing Mass Effect 2 on launch, aware that I could expect disappointment. Before I continue, I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best games I have ever played.

Game: Assassins Creed 2
Release Date: November 19th 2009
Platform: Xbox 360/PS3

Assassins Creed 2 takes everything that you will have loved about the original and improves on every aspect, as well as removing all the flaws that let the first game down. Set in the height of the Renaissance era in 15th century Italy, Assassins Creed 2 shows off a spectacular breathing world that is a pleasure to play in, as well as providing the player with a lot of stuff to do; satisfying assassinations, side quests, tomb exploration are just a few things that you’ll have to do here.

Presentation

Say farewell to Acre and Jerusalem and say a welcome hello to Florence and Venice. This game makes the most of the game engine to provide a new vibrant look to Assassins Creed 2, giving it a more attractive and colourful presentation, which is definitely welcome when compared to the relatively bland colour scheme of the original game.

Game: Forza Motorsport 3
Release Date: October 23rd 2009
Platform: Xbox 360

In the simplest way of putting it, Forza 3 is a sim racer with a lot of options. These options give it the ability to be accessible to the hardcore sim fans all the way down to the most inexperienced of racers. You can really make this game feel how you want it to feel, and alongside the roster of over 400 cars, a deep and personal career mode, and an absolutely brilliant multiplayer experience, Forza 3 is a very exciting racer.

Game: Fallout 3
Release Date: October 31st 2008
Platform: Xbox 360/PS3/PC

Fallout 3 is a really big game. It is also a hugely hyped game. Ever since it was announced by Bethesda as their next major project after The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, fans of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series have been flocking like mad to catch every last ounce of info on the game. I was one of these madmen who would stop at nothing to learn everything I could about the title. At last, Fallout 3 has hit shelves with an incredible bang, and in my opinion it definitely lives up to the massive hype behind it.

Game: Fable 2
Release Date: 24th October 2008
Platform: Xbox 360

Fable 2 is all about choice, or so Peter Molyneux has been telling us for the last year or so. While everything that he promised may not altogether be apparent here, Fable 2 is a wonderfully appealing game that will most likely suck you into the beautiful world of Albion. Amongst some notable faults such as a short, uninspiring story and a stale interaction system, Fable 2 succeeds at where it doesn’t try to hard, and that is being a great fantasy game.
